Just for the bride.

My wonderful friend Molly who is getting married next week (WOOHOO) passed along this book called "Just for the Bride". A friend gave it to her, wrote in a little congratulations message, and passed it on to me. I in return do the same thing to a bride who is close to me.

A quote that I love featured in the book "A family starts with a young man falling in love with a girl. No superior alternative has been found." Winston Churchill.

Thanks again Molly!

The proposal - May 9th 2009

On our first date Brad wanted to do something neither of us had done. So we decided we would go hit some hot pink golf balls in the ocean. We wanted to be sure we could see them in the dark so we found some hot pink golf balls. On the day of the engagment Brad and I spent some time at the beach with some friends, then went to my place to watch a movie. Well during the movie Brad wants to go for a walk on the beach. So we walk quite a ways.. probably a half mile in the sand and turn back around. On our way back we stopped and looked at the waves. He pointed out to me that there was a pink golf ball on the ground. I just thought it was some random thing on the beach, until he pointed out like our first date. He then knelt down and opened the golf ball and there was my ring! I can't remember what he said besides that he wanted to marry me, but of course I said yes. Our good friend Tiffany recorded the whole proposal and had a picnic set up for us to watch the sunset and have a romantic time together.

The day we met! - Sept 8, 2008

Although I had seen Brad at church many times before, and always had an immense attraction for him we never actually sat down and had a conversation together. I remember the Saturday before we met I was just leaving the beach with my friends Erin Hawley and Lisa Ward. Brad and Shannon Masquardson were driving by going to pick up food for Break The Fast. They stopped and said hello while driving by, and I remember saying to myself I really need to get to know him better.

Well, Monday comes by, and Erin and I decided to go to Family Home Evening together it was a fireside, so it was in the chapel. Then there he was, sitting their all by himself waiting for Erin and I to come sit by him. He invited us over and I was so excited. We started chatting about random stuff, like Brads arms looking like he shaves them (he doesn't). Then Erin asked Brad if he was dating anyone in the ward, etc. He had mentioned he wasn't dating anyone, there was no one he was interested. Well me being my sassy self, decided this was my perfect opportunity. "Well, thats because you haven't taken me out" I said. This caught Brad off guard a little bit, and got him thinking.

The whole time during the fireside we were flirting here and there, I would touch his arm and let him know I was flirting. Afterwards, Erin and Warren asked us to hang out with them, which they claim they set us up. So Brad and I decided to get some yogurt and keep talking, then afterwards go over to Erins'. We went and watched the MTV music awards, and I remember wanting to sit REALLY close to Brad but not making it too obvious I was into him.

After watching the awards Brad walked out with me to my car. He said we should all hang out sometime, and I agreed.. hoping he ment just me, but not sure. He got my number and I was so excited. That Thursday he called me, we talked for probably two hours and asked me on a date for Friday.

Brad + Lacey = Bracey

I have always loved the part in Father of the Bride, when Annie was younger and she says "Dad, I met a man in Rome. And he's wonderful and brilliant, and we're getting married."

No, I did not meet Brad in Rome, I met him at church. However, he is wonderful, and brilliant and we ARE getting married. I can't say that phrase enough! I always thought in my young age that I would get married around 25. Although people in high school thought my best friend Jenn and I would be the FIRST ones to get married.. I think they jinxed us! :) I actually have to thank them, otherwise I might possibly be in a trailer park someone with 2 kids. Eek scary thought.. moving on.

This will be a new blog of mine talking about events, memories, and our progress to get married and our wonderful adventure in this life and more.

Enjoy!
